ATAPI connector This is a closer view of the modem's ATAPI connector. One end of an ATAPI sound cable plugs into the ATAPI connector, and the other end plugs into the sound card.

When inserting or removing the ATAPI connector from the ATAPI socket, stabilize the ATAPI socket from movement by placing the socket between thumb and forefinger. Place the thumb on the socket and forefinger on the back of the card, or vice versa. The main objective is to hold the ATAPI socket firmly against the card to prevent it from bending when inserting the connector into the socket.
