How to find your serial number - Notebooks

 Back

The serial number label for Gateway® notebooks is always located on the bottom of the notebook.
You can have us find your serial number for you by clicking the "Find My Serial #" link on the My Support page.

  • The serial number label location and information varies by model and features ordered.
  • Depending on how old your notebook is and where your notebook was purchased, the serial number format and the number of characters may vary.
    • For older notebooks, check the bottom of the notebook for an individual white sticker with a bar code and the serial number.
    • On some earlier models, the serial number for the notebook is located on the Customer Care label and not an individual sticker on the bottom of the notebook. This label may also display information such as the type of notebook, the chassis revision, or the screen size.
  • Another option for notebook models prior to October 2008 is to check your notebook user guide for the location of the Customer Care labels specific to your notebook. User guides are now pre-installed on your hard drive or may be viewed online by selecting your model on the Notebook User Guides page.
