Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why does my Gateway LD-220 DVD Player/Receiver not completely power up so that I can use the unit?

A: By design, pressing the Power button on the front of the DVD Player/Receiver only powers the unit to a standby mode. To make the unit fully functional, on the front of unit, press the Function button. Unlike this unit, most Home DVD/Home Theater systems do not have a fully integrated standby mode, so they do not operate in the same manner.

Use the following steps to turn on or turn off the unit:

  1. Connect the power cord to the rated AC socket. On the front of the DVD Player/Receiver, press the Power button. The indicator lights up.

  2. On the front of the DVD Player/Receiver, press the Function button or, on the remote control, press the Power button. The unit is fully functional and is in DVD mode.

  3. To return the unit to standy mode, on the remote control, press the Power button. In standby mode, to completely turn the unit off, on the front of the DVD Player/Receiver, press the Power button.
