GWSCAN 5.11 is a diagnostic hard drive utility that allows you to verify and repair most Parallel ATA (PATA) and Serial ATA (SATA) hard drives.

Several options are offered for verifying the defect-free status of your hard drive.

  • Quick Test: The Quick Test is designed to intelligently gather and verify all of the Data Lifeguard information contained on the drive. The Quick Test can determine with a high level of confidence that a drive is defect-free in a short amount of time. For maximum confidence, the Extended Test is recommended. The Quick Test option may not be available on earlier hard drives.
  • Extended Test: For most computers, the GWSCAN Extended Test takes 5 to 20 minutes to test one drive. Larger drives take longer to test. The performance of the computer also affects the test time.

Note: This GWSCAN version is for IDE hard drives that are larger than 10 gigabytes (GB). If testing or writing zeros to an IDE hard drive that is 10 GB or smaller, GWSCAN version 3.15 is recommended.
