Q: How do I troubleshoot audio noise or an audio hum when playing media in the Gateway DVD Recorder?

  1. Ensure that all components in your audio system are securely plugged in at both ends.

  2. Ensure that you keep your audio system's cables away from a transformer or motor and that you keep them at least ten feet away from a TV or fluorescent lights.

  3. The plugs and jacks may be dirty. Unplug them, and then wipe them clean with a cloth slightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol. When dry, plug them in securely.

  4. Clean the CD or DVD media.

  5. Plug the audio cables directly from the AR-230 into the audio system rather than going through additional audio devices. For example, do not plug audio from the AR-230 through a switchbox to the audio system.
