Q: How do I connect a VCR to the Gateway DVD Recorder?

A: Connecting a VCR to the Gateway DVD Recorder lets you record content from the VCR to a DVD+R disc. The following graphic shows how to connect the devices using a composite audio/video cable and with an optional S-Video cable. S-Video provides better quality video for those devices that support it.

VCR Composite audio/video cable - Connect the yellow video jack and the red (R) and white (L) audio jacks on the back of your DVD recorder to the yellow video jack and the red (R) and white (L) audio jacks on the back of your VCR.

OR

Composite and S-Video cables - Connect the S-Video In jack on the back of your DVD recorder to the S-Video Out jack on the back of your VCR. Connect the red (R) and white (L) audio jacks on the back of your DVD recorder to the red (R) and white (L) audio jacks on the back of your VCR.

Note: Do not connect the composite cable's yellow video jacks when using an S-Video cable.

After the proper cable connections are made, enter DVD Recorder's on-screen display (OSD) Disc Tools menu, and then set up the recording session using the input source, such as AV2, to which the VCR is connected.

You may also need to set the VCR to the proper output for the connection made. Refer to the VCR's documentation for more information.
