Q: How do I create, rename, or otherwise change the title of a recorded program?

A: Note: The DVD recorder's remote control is needed to complete these tasks.

Create or rename a title

  1. Turn on the DVD recorder by pressing the power button on the remote control or on the front of the unit.

  2. Place the disc containing the program you want to create a title for or rename, label-side up, in the disc tray.

  3. Press the Disc Tools button on the remote control or the (play) button on the front of the unit.

  4. In the DVD Menu, use the arrow buttons to select the program you want to create a title for or rename, and then press the Edit button.

  5. Using the remote control, in the Title Edit menu, press the arrow buttons to select Title Name, and then press the Enter button.

  6. Create the new title by pressing a number button one or more times to enter a character. Each number button on the remote control is associated with a set of letters. Use the on-screen display to determine which number button to press. After entering a character, press the right arrow button to go to the next character. Repeat to create a title of eight or fewer characters.

    Note: Titles are limited to eight (8) characters.

  7. After the title is created, use the arrow buttons to select Finish, and then press the Enter button.

  8. Press the Edit button to close the Title Edit menu.

Enable Overwrite to record over a title

Note: You can record over a title on DVD+RW discs only.

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the DVD recorder.

  2. Place the disc containing the title to overwrite, label-side up, in the disc tray.

  3. Press the (play) or Disc Tools button.

  4. In the DVD Menu, select the title you want to overwrite, and then press the Edit button.

  5. In the Title Edit menu, select Overwrite, and then press the Enter button.

  6. To enable Overwrite, select On, and then press the Enter button.

  7. You can now record over the title.

Erase a title

Note: You can erase titles from DVD+RW and DVD+R discs. However, you cannot reuse the erased space on a DVD+R disc.

  1. Press the Power button to turn on your DVD recorder.

  2. Place the disc containing the title you want to erase, label-side up, in the disc tray.

  3. Press the (play) or Disc Tools button.

  4. In the DVD Menu, select the title you want to erase, and then press the Edit button.

  5. In the Title Edit menu, select Erase, and then press the Enter button.

  6. Press the Edit button to close the Title Edit menu.

Protect a title

Protecting a title prevents its accidental erasure.

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the DVD recorder.

  2. Place the disc containing the title you want to protect, label-side up, in the disc tray.

  3. Press the (play) or Disc Tools button.

  4. In the DVD Menu, select the title you want to protect, and then press the Edit button.

  5. In the Title Edit menu, select Protection, then press the Enter button.

  6. To enable Protection, select On, and then press the Enter button.

  7. To close the Title Edit menu, press the Edit button or use the arrow buttons to select Exit, and then press the Enter button.
