Q: Why does the audio have static when playing back video recorded on the Gateway DC T50 camera?

A: The Gateway DC T50 camera is a digital camera, not a camcorder. The microphone on the camera is primarily meant to be used when recording voice memos. The camera is capable of recording short videos, but if the microphone is enabled there may be static in the audio. To remove all audio from the video recordings, the microphone should be disabled.

Use the following steps to enable or disable the microphone:

  1. Set the mode dial to Setup Mode, and then turn on the camera.

  2. Press the or keys to select Sound, and then press the SET button.

  3. The Sound menu displays on the LCD monitor. Use the or keys to select ON or OFF.

  4. Press the SET button to confirm the setting.
