Q: Why is the warranty on a camera battery a maximum of one year?

A: All rechargeable batteries experience a loss in power retention ability over time.

Batteries are designed (industry wide) to only retain benchmark performance for the first year. After roughly 400 cycles (number varies by platform), the performance starts to decline noticeably.

Normal degradation of battery performance is not covered under the warranty that applies to Gateway camera batteries. Nor do the extended warranty options for the unit itself, apply to the battery.
