Q: How do I remove and replace the hard drive in the 3-bay micro-BTX case?

A: Remove the hard drive

  1. Turn off the computer, and then disconnect the power cord and all external device cables.

  2. Remove the access panel.

  3. Inside the case, the hard drive is mounted under the center support bracket.

  4. Lift the support bracket out of the case a short distance. Labels on the bracket marked LIFT HERE indicate where to lift for best support of the hard drive.

  5. Disconnect the power and signal cables from the rear of the hard drive.

  6. Lay the bracket on a flat surface to so that the hard drive cage is facing up.

  7. Slide the hard drive release latch toward the outside of the bracket.

  8. Slide the hard drive out of the cage.

    Note: The hard drive may fit tightly in the cage. Resistance is normal when pulling the hard drive out.

Replace the hard drive

  1. Slide the hard drive all the way into the cage, connector end first.

  2. Slide the release latch toward the center of the cage until it clicks into the locked position.

  3. Hold the cage close to the computer with the hard drive near the rear of the case, and then connect the hard drive power and signal cables.

  4. Place the bracket across the case, ensuring that cables do not get pinched.

  5. When properly aligned, arrow markings on the bracket align with arrow markings on the case.

  6. Ensure that the bracket is snapped down and flush with the rest of the case.

  7. Replace the access panel.

  8. Connect the external device cables and power cord, and then turn on the computer.
