Q: How do I remove and replace the PCI EMI shield in the Gateway 5-bay case?

A: Notes:
  • Under normal circumstances, this shield never needs to be removed.
  • Before disconnecting cables or removing components, carefully note connection locations and installation orientations. Creating a diagram can be helpful for later reassembly.

Remove the PCI EMI shield

  1. Turn off the computer, and then disconnect the power cord and all external device cables.

  2. Remove the left side panel.

  3. Inside the rear of the case, the PCI EMI shield fits between the add-in slot covers and the rear wall of the case.

  3. Pay close attention that the small alignment slots between the spade shaped tabs of the shield align with the small alignment tabs located between the add-in card openings on the case.

  4. When the PCI EMI shield is properly installed, the shield is resting against the ledge above the card slot openings and is flat against the metal between the add-in card slot openings on the case

  5. Replace all add-in card slot covers into the openings from which they were removed.
