Q: How do I remove and replace memory in the Gateway 3-bay nBTX case?

A: Remove memory

  1. Turn off the computer, and then disconnect the power cord.

  2. Remove the case access panel.

  3. Remove the hard drive.

  4. Remove the external drive cage.

  5. Remove the power supply.

  6. Inside the case, the memory slots and modules are located near the center of the case.

  7. Press the release latches at each end of the module outward. The module lifts from the slot slightly.

  8. Handling the module only by the edges, lift it out of the socket. Take care not to touch the chips or the gold connectors on the module.

Replace memory

  1. Align the memory module with the slot on the motherboard, and then firmly press it into the slot.

  2. Ensure that the tabs at each end of the slot are in the closed position to secure the module in the slot.

  3. Replace the power supply.

  4. Replace the external drive cage.

  5. Remove the hard drive.

  6. Replace the case access panel.

  7. Connect the computer's power cord, and then turn on the computer.
