Q: How do I remove and replace memory modules in the Gateway 7-bay BTX computer case?

A: Remove memory

  1. Turn off the computer, and then disconnect the power cord.

  2. Remove the computer's right side panel.

  3. For more stability, you can carefully lay the computer case on its left side.

  4. Inside the case, locate the memory slots near the top, center of the motherboard and below the power supply.

  5. Press the release latches at each end of the memory module outward. The module lifts from the slot slightly.

  6. Handling the module only by the edges, lift it out of the slot. Try not to touch the chips or the gold connectors on the module.

Replace memory

  1. Align the memory module with the memory slot, and then firmly press the module into place.

    Note: The memory module and the slot are both keyed, and the module only correctly inserts into the slot one way. Be careful not to force module insertion.

  2. Verify that the release latches at each end of the module flip up into place and secure the module.

  3. If needed, stand the computer case upright.

  4. Replace the right side panel.

  5. Connect the computer's power cord, and then turn on the computer.
