Q: How do I remove and replace power supply in the 7-bay BTX computer case?

A: Some computers that use the 7-bay BTX case may have a standard size power supply and some may have a longer power supply (or a longer power supply may be sent as a replacement). Either size power supply is correct for the computer, but require different removal and replacement steps.

Note: Before disconnecting power leads, note each connection location for later use. Creating a diagram of the connections can be helpful.

Remove the standard size power supply

  1. Turn off the computer, and then disconnect the power cord.

  2. Remove the computer's right side panel.

  3. Inside the case, disconnect all power leads. At the minimum, there are power leads to each drive and two leads to the motherboard.

  4. At the rear of the case, remove the three phillips screws that secure the power supply in the case.
