Front view This is the front of the 6-bay case. Refer to the following table for more information.

Item Description Function
A Optical drive Use this drive to listen to audio CDs, install games and programs, watch DVDs, and store large files onto recordable discs (depending on drive type).
This drive may be a CD-ROM, recordable CD (CD-RW), DVD-ROM, or recordable DVD (DVD-RW/+RW) drive.
B Optional optical drive bay A second optical (CD/DVD/Recordable) drive may be installed in this bay, depending on the computer configuration.
C Optional floppy disk drive/Zip drive/memory card reader bay This bay may have any one of the optional devices installed.
  • Floppy disk drive (shown) - Insert a standard 3.5-inch floppy disk into the optional drive.
  • Zip drive - Use this drive to store larger files on Zip disks.
  • Memory card reader - Insert a memory card from a digital camera, MP3 player, PDA, cellular telephone, or other devices into the memory card reader.
D Disk eject button An eject button is present if a floppy disk or Zip drive is installed. Some media card readers also have an eject button.
E Power button/LED Press this button to turn the power on or off. You can also configure the power button to operate in Standby/Resume mode or Hibernate mode.
The LED incorporated in the button lights when the computer is turned on.
F Two USB 2.0 ports Plug a Universal Serial Bus (USB) device, such as a printer, scanner, camera, keyboard, or mouse, into these ports.
G 4-pin IEEE 1394 port Plug an IEEE 1394 (also known as Firewire or i.Link®) device, such as a digital camcorder, into this IEEE 1394 port.
H Headphone jack (green) Plug powered, analog front speakers, an external amplifier, or headphones into this jack.
I Microphone jack (pink or red) Plug a microphone into this jack.
