Q: How do I remove and replace the control panel assembly in the Hornet case?

A: Remove the control panel assembly

  1. Remove the case cover.

  2. Remove the front bezel.

  3. Inside the case, lift up the drive cage assembly.

  4. Disconnect the power and controller cables from the rear of the optical drive.

  5. Disconnect the power and controller cables from the rear of the hard drive.

  6. Lift up the hard drive cage to gain access to the control panel assembly.

  7. Locate the control panel assembly in the corner of the drive cage assembly. Gently pull the retaining tab away from the drive cage assembly.

  8. Remove the control panel assembly from the drive cage assembly.

  9. Remove the control panel assembly from the motherboard.

Replace the control panel assembly

  1. Connect the control panel assembly to the motherboard.

  2. Place the control panel assembly in the drive cage assembly aligning the tab in the control panel assembly with the notch in the drive cage assembly. Ensure the retaining tab clicks into place on the drive cage assembly.

  3. Lower the hard drive cage into place against the bottom of the drive cage assembly, and then connect the power and controller cables.

  4. Connect the power and controller cables to the optical drive.

  5. Lower the drive cage assembly.

    Note: When lowering the drive cage assembly, ensure that the cables under it are flat and do not get pinched.

  6. Replace the front bezel.

  7. Replace the case cover.
