Q: How do I remove and replace/install a slim floppy disk drive in the Hornet case?

A: Remove the drive

Note: If no drive is installed in the bay, skip to the next section.

  1. Remove the case cover.

  2. Remove the front bezel.

  3. Inside the case, lift up the drive cage assembly.

  4. Disconnect the power and controller cables from the rear of the slim floppy disk drive.

  5. Lower the drive cage assembly, and then unlock the bottom drive release lever.

    Note: When lowering the drive cage assembly, ensure that the cables under it are flat and do not get pinched.

  6. From the front of the case, pull the slim floppy disk drive out.

Replace or install the drive

  1. If installing a drive for the first time, perform the following steps. If replacing a drive, skip to step 2.

    1. Remove the case cover.
    2. Remove the front bezel.
    3. From the front of the case, remove the cover for the slim floppy disk drive bay.

  2. Inside the case, ensure that the release lever for the bottom drive bay is in the unlocked position.

  3. At the front of the case, slide the slim floppy disk drive into the bay.

  4. Lock the release lever for the bottom drive bay.

    Note: Ensure that the release lever for the top drive bay is also locked.

  5. Lift up the drive cage assembly, and then connect the controller and power cables to the slim floppy disk drive. If this is a new drive, connect the other end of the controller cable to the motherboard.

  6. Lower the drive cage assembly.

    Note: When lowering the drive cage assembly, ensure that the cables under it are flat and do not get pinched.

  7. Replace the front bezel.

  8. Replace the case cover.

    Note: Ensure that the floppy drive controller is enabled in the BIOS Setup Utility.
