Q: Why do I receive a "Please insert a disk into drive (x)" message when I try to read from the media card reader?

A: You receive the error message "Please insert a disk into drive (x)" (x being the media card reader drive letter) if you used the software eject option within Microsoft® Windows® XP but then did not physically eject and reinsert the card in the drive before tyring to read it again. To eject a memory stick from the drive, use the eject button on the drive.

How software eject works

From within My Computer, if you right-click on the drive letter that has a media card with information on it inserted, and then click Eject, the media card does not physically eject from the drive. After the software eject option is chosen you are not be able to read the information on the media card until it is physically removed, by pressing the eject button on the drive, and then reinserted into the drive.
